Good Nutrition is the Secret for a Pain Free Life

Friday, July 31st, 2009
Rudy Silva asked:

Nutrition information and natural remedies are now being used by a large population in the United States and throughout the world.  People are looking for alternative ways to create health or recover from long standing illnesses.  Drugs have been applied for around a hundred years and we all know that they are good for emergencies and for short term use to get past health dangers.

By learning the nutritional basics or advanced principles, you can decide how to deal with an illness or disease you have or that your family has.  Most people that I have talked with have very little knowledge about nutrition and the amount that they do know was acquired from friends, parents or relatives.

Nutrition is actually a science, which can get quite complex in theory.  Nutrition information is concerned with the chemical make up of food, how this food is digested, how it is absorbed and used by your body.  It is all about how it is used to promote health, and how it is used to prevent and eliminated illness.

For the normal person, the nutrition they need to learn is the practical side of nutrition.  Learning some theory and mixing it with good practical nutritional habits is essential for maintaining your body free from illness.

Inflammation comes from excess acid in your body.  This acid is created from the foods you eat.  Eating certain foods leave an acid residue in your cells that then travels into the liquid surrounding your cells – lymph liquid. In the lymph liquid, this acid can damage the surrounding cells and tissue and in doing so starts the inflammation process.

Many scientists and medical researchers have uncovered the basic principles of the acid-alkaline body.  Maintaining an acid body, which many people have, is what creates and maintains various deadly diseases. Most pathogens like an acid body.  Cancer thrives in an acid body.

Nutrition is about how to maintain an alkaline body.  It points to the right foods to eat so that the correct minerals can become available to neutralize your acid body.  An acid body can be neutralized with minerals found in fruits and vegetables.

Nutrition says your body is bioelectrical.  Your body is run by electrical and chemical reactions.  You need to discover what foods support these electrical and chemical activities.  Without the right electrical activities in your body, your cells will not get the right nutrition, which is necessary for your survival.  Nutrition is also about discovering what food, nutrients and minerals your body needs and what illness you develop if you don’t get them.

To learn the correct practical, nutrition information is now possible on the internet.  In the past learning nutrition was only available in books, tapes, and seminars.  But now, you can get on the Internet and find excellent courses that will help you learn how you can be free of disease or acquire excellent health.  Start now to discover how you can become a semi-expert in nutrition for yourself and for you family.

Renal Disease A Good Nutrition Can Help You

Monday, July 27th, 2009
Kritnaphat N. asked:

Not only medical treatment can help you to cure renal disease, good and proper nutrition can reduce a symptom of renal disease. So, when your kidneys are no longer work properly, you have to control the way you eats for both kinds and amounts of food you eat.

A proper nutrition can help to control renal disease. It helps to cut down the workload on your kidneys. Also it can control the build-up of food wastes like urea, reduce symptoms like fatigue, nausea, itching and bad taste in the mouth, and control the effects of high blood sugar if you have diabetes.

Each person has different need in renal disease nutrition depending on their age, medical history and kidney function. Your diet plan will work with you to drawing an individual daily eating map that is suitable for you. Together you can plan proper food choices to keep you feeling as well as possible, and to try to slow the loss of kidney function. Below are the foods and nutrients you will have to consider to help relieve renal disease symptoms, control blood pressure and maintain health.

Calcium and phosphorus (Phosphate) are minerals which normally keep your bones strong and healthy, in the right balance, work together in the body to keep your teeth and bones strong and a change in one can cause a change in the other. When the kidneys start to fail, your blood phosphate level will rise. Thus, you may need to less certain foods which contain of phosphorus. These include milk, cheese and other milk products, and protein foods such as meat, fish and poultry. However, you still need some milk products and protein foods for overall good nutrition, so your dietitian will make sure you have enough of these in your daily eating plan. The bound phosphorus will pass in your stool. You need to take phosphate binders at meals and snacks. But do not take phosphate binders at the same time as iron supplements.

Sodium is found mostly in salt. Sodium affects your body fluids and blood pressure. You need to control your salt intake and avoid foods with high sodium content. In addition to the salt shaker, there are other sources of high sodium foods such as processed meats including bacon, sausage and luncheon meats. Snack foods, canned foods and frozen prepared meals also contain large amounts of salt. Anyway to improve the taste of unsalted food, you can use unsalted spices, herbs, vinegar and lemon.

Potassium is a mineral which helps your nerves and muscles work well. It is a mineral present in many fruits and vegetables as well as in meat and dairy products. Some potassium is necessary for good health, but too much can be dangerous. If your kidneys do not work well, potassium can build up in the blood. Too much or too little potassium in the diet can affect the muscles in the body, particularly the heartbeat and a very high level can cause the heart to stop beating. Usually people with renal disease don’t need to limit their potassium intake; however, if necessary your doctor and dietitian may recommend you adjust how much potassium you eat. Some high potassium foods are potatoes, squash, bananas, oranges, tomatoes, dried peas and beans.

Protein is needed daily to build muscles, repair tissues, fight infection and heal wounds. As your body breaks down protein foods, a waste called urea is formed. Your daily eating plan should provide enough protein for your body while limiting the amount of urea formed. Protein is present in many food items, but the highest quality protein comes from beef, pork, poultry, seafood and eggs. Well-nourished patients do better on dialysis, get sick less often and live longer.

Energy foods provide the fuel or calories which is necessary to do your daily activities and help you keep a healthy body weight. Calories come from all the foods you eat, including proteins, carbohydrates and fat. Calories are a concern if weight is too low or too high. It is important to get the energy you need from other food sources. Energy is found in most foods, particularly starches, sugars, grains, fruits, vegetables, fats and oils. Your daily eating plan will help you to select enough food choices to meet your energy needs and assist with blood sugar control.

You are what you eat. These words are still in common. Surely you should set up your nutrition plan with all above suggestion then you can relief from renal disease.

Healthy Diets – How Do You Choose?

Sunday, July 26th, 2009
Shannon Pollock asked:

There is so much confusion about exactly what a healthy diet really is these days. Eat carbs or avoid them? What about meat? There are so many fad diets available that it could even confuse a nutritionist. Today let’s look at a healthy diet in general without considering the thought of weight loss. A healthy diet will lead to weight loss and optimum health.

In the earliest years of school we all learned about the food pyramids – the most basic steps of healthy eating. Somewhere along the way, we forgot about that pyramid because we embarked upon soda, potato chips, greasy burgers, pizza, and French fries. Now in order to maintain a healthy diet we must go back to the pyramid again.

When the food pyramid is followed and if eaten in the right amounts, it will form the basics of a healthy diet. When you observe the pyramid, at the base where it is wider are the foods that should be eaten most often. The foods at the top of the pyramid where it is much narrower will be eaten less. See, that wasn’t so hard now, was it?

The basic concept of the food pyramid is to eat plenty of fruits, whole grains, and vegetables. Limit the amount of saturated fat, trans fat, and cholesterol that you eat. Limit salt and sweets, try to avoid alcohol, limit the amount of calories that you consume by watching your portion sizes, and exercise daily. The food pyramid categorizes food so that you have an easier time making wise food choices. Since there is no one food item that can give you all of the nutrition that you need, you do have to eat a variety in order to make sure that you get all of the necessary nutrients.

Continuing to follow the food pyramid you should eat at least three servings of fruit per day, four servings of vegetables or more, four to eight servings of carbohydrates per day, protein and dairy should consist of three to seven servings. Limit fats to three to five servings per day, and no more than 75 calories per day of sweets.

You should eat a variety of fruits and vegetables each day and consume one thing from each food group so that you get your carbs, fruits, vegetables, protein, dairy, and fats. The key though is to consume the most vegetables and fruits and stay away from the fats as much as possible. This will be the beginning of a healthy and nutritious diet that will provide you with long term optimal health.

Healthy Diet

Monday, July 20th, 2009
MN Nikk asked:

One of the important things you can do for your overall health is to eat a healthy diet. Your diet affects your weight and increases your risks of health diseases. Deciding a healthy diet is easier to say than to do because it is tempting to eat less healthy foods. Different people decide different healthy diet because you might eat this kind of diet while others just cannot stand the food you eat and find its alternative. That’s what health experts are here for, to let us know which food are healthier than others.

What are the principles of healthy eating?

Know What Healthy Food Is and How You Should Eat

When pursuing a healthy eating plan, you should remember the following:

1. Try and Eat a Variety of Different Colored Food – You should remember that different foods have different nutritional values. Food can be rich in antioxidants or Vitamin C. So, when you go to do your regular weekly shop, try and see what different colored foods you can pick up.

Down the fruit and vegetable aisle you should see greens, yellows, oranges and reds. You should have as much of a color variety in your trolley as you can. For example, when picking out fruit pick up strawberries, oranges, pineapple, apples, blueberries and bananas and you will notice what a large color selection you actually have. The same goes for vegetables. Basically, more color means that it is better and healthier for you.

2. Eat Foods from All Food Groups – The problem with many diets these days is the fact that they tell you to cut certain foods from certain food groups, out of the diet altogether. This means that you lose important nutrition and don’t eat as healthy as you could be. So, the answer to a healthy diet is to eat a variety of different foods.

Generally, fruit and vegetables should make up the main portion of your diet but you still need carbohydrates such as potatoes, meat or fish and a little bit of fatty foods like flaxseed oil which many experts recommend as part of a good fat diet. Overall, a diverse mixture of all food groups is needed for a healthy diet!

3. When You Need to Eat Snack, Do It on Healthy Foods – It doesn’t mean that just because you want to lose weight, you’ll have to skip your snack. In fact, snacking can actually be quite good for you just as long as you are eating the right foods.

Generally, when we want to eat snack, we reach for a biscuit or a packet of crisps. However, if you want to eat a healthy snack, then you will have to swap those for nuts, seeds or fruit and vegetables. That way you will get energy, you will also be full until your next meal time and it will be completely healthy.

Since you know what foods you like and what you don’t, you really have to decide for your own healthy eating plan. However, the said tips above can help you to choose the best healthy eating plan for you.

Good Nutrition Equals Healthy and Better Life

Sunday, July 19th, 2009
Benedict Smythe asked:

The complete physiological process by which the human body or any organism obtains the food that is necessary for its development and growth is defined as nutrition. Eating food is not sufficient as it has to be broken down and turned into energy for any organism to carry on. This is more like a general definition of nutrition for the animal kingdom.

The Human Definition

Nutrition, for humans, is an important process since it is aimed at the reconstruction of tissues with the aid of food and other supplies. The origin of the word nutrition is from the Latin world nutritio or French word nutrition-both meaning sustenance. Without this so-called sustenance, no human being will be able to go on living and he would cease to grow. As a human being is continuously deprived of food, he would soon weaken and eventually die.

Correct or proper nutrition is more than just being physically fit. There are more aspects to proper nutrition such as having a very optimistic view on one’s life and have a healthy and spiritual mind. This justifies the saying-a healthy mind in a healthy body.

A body that is not happy would lead into a mind that is not able to think clearly. As stress sinks in, it would finally create a twisted view of one’s self and how you view life in general. Nutrition is what fuels all the mechanisms in your body and when this is neglected, dire consequences are sure to follow.

Nowadays, where stressful living is quite common, it is more important to live a balanced life and get rid of the foods that can do damage to your body. Replacing junk food with healthy food would be one of the most important decisions that you have to make in your entire life.

Promoting Proper Nutrition

ADA or The American Dietetic Association is the nation’s biggest organization of nutrition experts and professionals. This group has about 65,000 members and they all aim at promoting healthy nutrition. These experts give advice to people who want to have a go at changing their lifestyles for the better. All members of the ADA are food and nutrition specialists and they put all the theories that they have learned into practical solutions.

The appearance of junk food in the market for the last few decades has proven to be an almost insurmountable task for nutrition experts. Incorrect nutrition (which is unfortunately more common among modern men) always comes with an unbalanced life.

America, together with the rest of the world, continues to battle obesity. Modern man is now used to being sedentary and this lack of movement makes large deposits of unused fats as well as calories into the body. Fat affects all human internal organs and would eventually cause health issues such as problems on blood circulation, heart failure, hard breathing and even cancer.

Looking at it, the solution is quite simple-have a healthy diet by eating fruits, vegetables, drinking lots of water, doing some forms of exercise, as well as keeping a healthy disposition in life is all it takes. Oh, if only mankind would follow these few, simple ways of life!
